Artistic Practise

My painting explores the space between figuration and abstraction. Rooted in visual impressions, encounters with nature, and personal experiences, my work evolves through the creative process into distinct pictorial worlds.

At the heart of my artistic practice lies an ongoing exploration of colour, form, and composition. Rather than simply reproducing what is seen, I reinterpret visual experience through memory, perception, and painterly intuition. The resulting works unfold as layered pictorial spaces in which the familiar and the ambiguous enter into a subtle dialogue.
Working primarily with acrylics and mixed media, and occasionally with oils, I often develop several paintings simultaneously. Through their ongoing interaction, individual works gradually evolve into interconnected series and bodies of work.
My painting is an open-ended process, shaped by the interplay between deliberate composition and intuitive decision-making. I am particularly drawn to the relationship between what is visible and what is felt, and to the potential of painting to create a reality of its own. I am Britta, and I've been a freelance artist since 2009.
